You will hear the acronym VLT when referring to the darkness of your window tint. It stands for Visible Light Transmission. This means that the percentage is how much light is let through the window. So the lower the number, the darker the tint. 100% (no tint) would allow all the light through and 0%  would be a total blackout.  

Tint Laws NSW: 

Front side windows may have 35% VLT tint film applied. These include windows in front of, or immediate left or right of the driver seat. All windows behind driver seat may be tinted with at most 20% VLT.

Does your vehicle already have tint on it? If the answer is yes, then the old film would have to be removed in order to install fresh new film. While you may be tempted to simply peel damaged tint off of your vehicle's window, the sticky residue left behind can take hours to scrape off. Please note that during the removal of the window film we will follow all necessary procedures to remove the film in the safest way possible however there is a possibility that rear demisters can fail and attach to the film. This is due to weak demisters from factory or the demisters deteriorating due to age and exposure. In the event of the demisters are damaged during removal of the film we will not be held liable for this and is at the owners’ own risk if they wish to have this procedure carried out. Removing the old tint can be a tricky job, so the cost for the manual labor will be higher. The cost for removing old film starts at just $150.
